A Silly Christmas Poem
As you may or may not know, my actual everyday real-life work job involves designing kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms. For this year's Christmas window display, I wrote a silly little Christmas ditty based on the famous Clement Clarke Moore poem 'The Night Before Christmas'.
This has resulted in the shop window being filled with a sink full of dishes, unwrapped presents and a drunk Santa sitting on the loo!
From the giggles we can hear outside the window and from the passers-by who pop their heads in to tell us they love the window, it's fair to say it's one of our most popular window displays ever, so I thought I would share it with you guys! Enjoy!
The Night(mare) Before Christmas
(by Amelia Short)
‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,
and the house was a state.
The presents weren’t wrapped,
and it was getting too late.
The decs keep on falling,
the Christmas cake sunk.
The chocolates were eaten
and Santa is drunk.
The Turkey’s still frozen,
the sprouts are rock hard.
The potatoes aren’t peeled
and the parsnips are charred.
The freezer has thawed,
the mince pies are rotten
The list had been lost
The crackers forgotten.
The shower needs cleaning,
the loo’s on the blink.
The dishes and pans
are piled in the sink.
It was all going wrong,
and try as I might
The fuse board has blown
and the oven won’t light.
On this night(mare) before Christmas,
we wish you good cheer
And perhaps a new kitchen
or bathroom next year!
I know what you're thinking, 'Is there now limits to this girl's creativity?' and the answer is no, I can churn out this sort of nonsense at the drop of a Christmas hat! 😂
I hope this little bit of silliness made you smile and I wish you and yours a very merry Christmas!
