What is my book about?

My current work in progress is called Getting Away. It’s a contemporary women’s fiction, rom-com style novel about an ordinary girl, Nancy Smart, who becomes inadvertently embroiled in a kidnap plot.

While dropping off her parents at the airport, Nancy ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time and is swept up in the kidnapping of the heir to the Giant Airline, Mark Cheriton.

Both are whisked away to a private island somewhere in the Mediterranean where they are kept captive. Before long, the pair become friendly with the four kidnappers, Joe, Johnno, Coultan and his wife Rio and life on the island is good. Despite her protestations Nancy even finds herself falling for blue-eyed Joe and the feeling seems to be mutual.

After discovering the reason behind the kidnapping and the purpose for the ransom money, Nancy & Mark realise that without their help, these bungling criminals will end up in prison, and they make the tough decision to assist with the plot.

With everybody’s freedom resting on her shoulders, does Nancy have enough confidence to succeed? Can she really pull off the plan that means her travelling through Europe with the police in tow? And if she does, will she ever see Joe again?
